Well done children!
Wow! What a busy half term we've had here at school...and I'm sure you'll agree with me that half term is very welcome! I can't believe we've packed in as much as we have to the last 8 weeks, so no wonder we're all tired out and ready for a rest.
Next half term is looking to be just as busy; with Parents Evenings, more Sharing Assemblies and Christmas celebrations to come of course.
Hopefully you've all managed to book a Parents Evening slot in the first week of November using the school app - a new system for us as you will know, but we're slowly moving into the 21st century.
Coming soon after Parents' Evenings we've also got the next event in our Parent Information series - Online Safety. This will be led by Jane Key who is an Online Safety Adviser for the Local Authority. She'll talk about how parents can help their children stay safe online - a valuable skill to protect our children in what is definitely a minefield for most parents nowadays! Please come along, whatever your child's age.
We'll aim to keep you as up to date as we can regarding school events, and we sincerely thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely and restful half term.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Plaskitt
The topic for this term has been 'The Gunpowder Plot'. The children have researched all about Guy Fawkes' role in the plot and developed a sound understanding of the events that took place through discussions, debates, improvistaions and presentations. Their learning culminated in a performance to parents, yesterday, in a Sharing Assembly in which the children performed extremely confidently and knowledgably - well done Class 2! The children also gained an understanding as to why people celebrate Bonfire Night and have learnt about the importance of fire safety.
As a fitting cross-curriculum activity to end their science topic on 'materials' with, the children have created some fantastic mosaics, using a variety of materials. A huge thank you to Jayne (Pip, Oscar and Molly's mum) who has helped out A LOT; grouting all 27 of the mosaics and helping to prepare them for display. They will be displayed in school after half term so do come and take a look them and, once the display has been suitably admired, the children will be able to take their works of art home.
Mrs Brettell, Miss Barnett and all Class 2 children would also like to thank Hetty Read (Benjamin and Nicholas's Mum) who comes in every Friday morning to help with reading (and very often gets cajoled into staying and doing extra activities!). Thank you.
New Clubs: Autumn Term

Y6 Parents: Bikeability (new school Cycling Proficiency)
Please remember to send your consent forms in for your child to take part in the two 'Bikeability' sessions which are scheduled to take place at school on Friday the 23rd and 30th of November. If we do not have more than 10+ students we will struggle to secure the instructors time.

School council met for the first time two weeks ago and, and amongst many other exciting topics, discussed charities! The charities that the school would like to support this school year are:
- Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child (deadline for boxes Thursday 15th Nov)
- Children in Need: Children in Need Day Friday 16th of November
- Myton Hospice: Summer term fundraiser
The first charity project is “Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project” – see letter and flier coming home with the children tonight for full details and ‘GIRL’ or ‘BOY’ age category labels which you will need to attach to any shoeboxes. There is no obligation to take part but it might be something you would like your child(ren) to get involved in over the half-term holiday; it’s a really simple but hugely impactful activity. Last year, the Operation Christmas Child delivered an amazing 11 million shoe box gifts to children in more than 100 countries. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. You could even consider having your child(ren) write a letter to make your shoebox more personal. It makes it more personal on both sides, for the one giving as well as the one receiving.
There is no need for you to drop the shoeboxes off at the local point, school will happily drop them all in one go for the children but SHOES BOXES MUST BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL AT THE LATEST BY THURSDAY 15th NOV.
Children in Need day is taking place on Friday the 16th of November. More details will be sent out via the School app nearer the time but expect charity dress up day and fun activities.
SNITTERFIELD PARK GRANT APPLICATION: WE NEED ALL YOUR VOTES
Our options to improve the park are limited...out of 30 corporate funding opportunities that we investigated...only
6 were applicable to our project; we've been turned down from one, are awaiting a very low contribution response from another, and the others cannot be submitted until we can show 'part-funding' success i.e. that we have secured some funds already from one corporate.
This opportunity is therefore one of the few options for us to actually make something happen in our park - we have until November 20th to keep the votes high!
Please keep voting and sharing with friends and family to vote. 48 finalists go through from 839 projects submitted in our category. The 48 finalists are those with the highest-voted projects from entries in our category (£10,000+ request) so every vote helps. All villagers and beyond please, please get behind this and cast your votes.

XMAS FAYRE
WHEN: Saturday 1st Dec
WHERE: St James the Great Church, Snitterfield
TIME: 2-4pm
This event is a fantastic fundraiser for school and a very special festive gathering. We are desperately looking for helpers for setting up on the Friday (an hour taking bits from the loft to the church), on the day with stall such as: Santa's Grotto, Book Tombola (see Nursery), Tattoos or Facepainting and others games such as 'wine bottle challenge' and 'splat the snowball' and 'pick a cup'; and we also need help with breaking down on Saturday after 4pm. The more help we get, the quicker we can all go home and any help is gratefully received. Please contact Jayne on 07967 680238 if you can help at all. THANK YOU.
